students gave a short performance and presented a video. Also, we organized
a small stand with some usual Romanian items (handicrafts, pottery, decorative
eggs).
The next day was dedicated to cultural approaches.
We had a study visit to Le Castella and Capo Colonna. The group continued
the study visit to the Aragonese Castle. In Capo Colonna we went to a
small church, a museum and an archaeological park and the last Doric column
that remains from the temple erected during the Magna Græcia period
dedicated to the goddess Hera Lacinia.
Since one of the topics of the project is religious festivities, the date
chosen for the meeting in Crotone was not by chance the period of the
Madonna of Capo Colonna feast, where the entire group was involved.
The last day includes the meeting with the major of Santa Severina and
a work session with teachers, where we disscused the ultimate details
regarding the final meeting of our project, in Greece.

(18-23 June 2011)
The theme of the final meeting was "European Day".
In this project meeting there were involved 27 teachers and 21 students
from ten countries (Cyprus, Estonia, Germany, Italy, Hungary, Lithuania,
Poland, Romania, Spain, UK) and Greek team.
Our country was represented by 3 teachers: Mariciuc Vasile, Dominte Costica,
and Matei Gabriel, and 4 students: Ionescu Georgiana, Stan Corina, Uleru
George Iulian and Budescu Vlad.
On Saturday, we attended a traditional dance and musical festival in Kalamaria,
where we had access to the beauty of Greek customs and traditions.
On Sunday we had an study visit to Stagira, Aristotle’s birthplace,
and Ouranopolis where we had the opportunity to see a traditional Greek
village.
On Monday there was the official opening of the final meeting; we had
a welcome speech from the Greek team and their educational authorities.
After that we had a guided tour of the school where we attended an exhibition
made by the Greek team with stands for every country involved in the project
and some materials made for the meetings held in those countries.
We had meetings with the authorities: the mayor of Kalamaria and the prefect
of Salonic Region. After that we had an insight of the historical heritage
of the region by visiting the Archeology Museum and the Byzantine Museum.
Students had a workshop where they rehearsed the song of the project created
in Lithuania and made final arrangements for their presenting moment to
be held on the final festivity on Wednesday.
In the evening, we attended the official ending of the school year where
all of us sang the common song of the project.
On Tuesday we went in Vergina for a study visit, the first capital of
the ancient Macedonian Kingdom to have an insight of the ancient Greek
history. There we had a look at the archeological complex where there
are some tombs of ancient kings including Philip, the father of Alexander
the Great.
On Wednesday there was the final festivity in which every country presented
their impressions about the project using drama, music, posters, PPT and
video presentations, speeches, etc. Our team presented a video presentation
about our contribution to the project using some materials (photos) from
previous meetings categorized in the main aspects we considered to be
relevant for the whole project. All the participants expressed their opinions
about the impact of the project on them and their communities.
We consider the project to be a success because our students and teachers
had the opportunity to interact with their European colleagues, so that
they could broaden their perspective over Europe in order to become active
European citizens. Moreover, we consider that we became more open-minded
and we learnt many new things by improving our social, educational and
cultural skills.
